One week removed from the end of the season the Red Sox Terry Francona decided he was going to walk away from his managerial position with General Manager Theo Epsetin possibly next. The Chicago Cubs have asked permission from the Red Sox to speak to Theo as they are also looking for another General Manager.

Red Sox Overhaul
Well I can’t say that I'm proud to witness one of the worst collapses in sports history. The Red Sox had a 9 game lead at the beginning of September and saw it slowly slip away. The Sox were tied with the Tampa Bay Rays going into the last game if of the season and with two outs and two strikes left to beat the Orioles, Sox closer Jonathon Papelbon gave up 2 straight hits to lose 4-3. 3 minutes later, the Rays Evan Longoria hit a walk-off homerun after being down 7-0 in the 6th to win 8-7 and take the AL Wild Card playoff spot.

Red Sox still hanging on
With only three games remaining in the regular season for the Red Sox, they still have a one game lead over division rival Tampa Bay Rays. Not being able to watch any of the Sox games since I’ve moved here has been a relief sadly enough going 6-18 so far during the month of September and seeing their lead in the wild card shrink 8 games. Do I think the Sox will hold on? With three games left against the Baltimore Orioles and the Rays taking on the Yankees fir their last three games I like our chances but it has to come out of our starting pitching which had had an ERA over 6 during the month.
In other news the Buffalo Bills upset my hometown Patriots 34-31 yesterday and beating them for the first time since the opening game back in 2003. Brady threw for 4 interceptions tying the total he had all of last season, and seeing a 21-0 first half lead vanish before their eyes. The Pats defense has been atrocious so far this season and if they plan on beating any other teams they need to sure up the safety and corner back positions which are their biggest weak spots. Next week they take on the Oakland Raiders which is coming off a 34-24 victory over my fellow AFC East division rivals New York Jets.

Panic in Boston
The month of September has not been kind to my hometown Red Sox so far. Out of the 19 games played so far in September the Red Sox have lost 14 of them decreasing their lead in the American League Wild Card from 11 games to 2. Every ESPN analyst is saying the Red Sox are in stage 5 panic mode with only 8 games left. The Red Sox have 3 games left against the Yankees and 5 more against the Orioles to end the season. I like our chances against the last place Orioles but only if our pitching can stop the bleeding, when you have three starting pitchers that have ERA's over 5 (Lackey, Wakefield, Weiland) pitching every other day it doesn’t give you much of a chance. When the season is wrapped up I can see the Red Sox clinching the American League Wild Card and facing the Detroit Tigers in the ALDS but only if the starting pitching steps up the last 8 games.

Twitter trouble
After the Patriots 35-21 victory over the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco sent out a tweet saying that he was in awe of how amazing Tom Brady Looked and has never been a part of anything like what he witnessed that night. Former Patriot linebacker and current ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi took offense to the tweet saying he shouldn’t be in awe because it is supposed to be his job to take part in the offense. Bruschi pulled no punches when telling Ochocinco to get his head in the game and don’t just stand back and watch but to contribute and keep your mouth shut.

Welcome Back Football!!
Finally the football season has arrived with more anticipation than ever before. With a lockout nearly eliminating some if not all of the NFL season, its back to tailgating, face painting, large consumptions of Dominos pizza and Coke, and hours of nonstop football action. The season started off on Thursday with the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers defeating the 2010 Super Bowl Champion Saints 42-35.
In other football news my hometown Patriots just defeated the Dolphins 38-24 behind a record setting performance by Tom Brady throwing for a Monday Night Football record 517 yards and 4 touchdowns. It is also the 5th most passing yards in any NFL game in history.
And much to the disdain of everyone in my dorm room the Pittsburgh Steelers got badly beaten by the Conference rivals Baltimore Ravens 35-7 with the Ravens causing 7 Steeler turnovers.

Intro
Hello everyone and welcome to my first blog post. My name is Sean Phelps and I'm a transfer junior from Lowell Massachusetts. I would like to start out first and foremost and let everybody know that the title of my blog (Title Town Topics) is not ment for the city of Pittsburgh as most of you are acustomed to. Title Town references the REAL city of champions wich is New England. Thats right, Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, and especially the New England Patriots. I look foward to getting into some heated deabtes with my fellow classmates this semister especially when the Patriots defeat the Steelers on thier home field just like they did last year.
